Do you have to pay the business if what they give you is bad quality? -

say your business hires a sign maker to make something for your main store. you plan with them and tell them what you want and he shows you a drawing of what the final product is and you approve.then when it s done and you see the final product, it s vaguely similar to the plan but the quality and layout/design is bad.do you have to pay them?(your business won t use the product because it isn t good enough, either)

No. Although a contract is in place (even if it s just verbal) there is an implied level of quality that needs to be met. If they fail to reach this standard then legally you do not have to pay. However, they may seek to force you to pay through the courts, in which case it will be tested as to whether your refusal to pay was genuine or not. If the court finds that you have not been genuine then you can expect to be stung for the cost of the work, as well as legal fees and maybe even punitive damages. But provided you ve got right on your side, then you ll be fine.
