Depends if you re forcing yourself not to take breaks, or they are telling you that you can t take breaks. Also, just because you re not management, it doesn t mean you don t fall under an overtime exemption status. Most salaried business professionals who have a job that takes a bit of cognitive ability fall under some overtime exemption.I m on salary and feel like I have to work 80 hour weeks sometimes just to keep up. What dawned on me though, is if I work that hard, management is not going to realize they are under staffed. So, I m basically creating the problem I m suffering from by getting things done on my personal time. Not an economy to be rocking the boat, but if you don t mind risking your job. Start just doing 40 hour weeks, and if you fall behind, but you re working hard...then explain to your employers that they are under staffed. If they try to compare you to other employees who are doing more than you, your defense should be that those employees are working hours they should not be in order to pick up the slack. Document all this carefully, in case you re wrongfully terminated for refusing to work beyond what is reasonable. Also, check out to see if you actually do meet overtime exemption status. Look on both the Federal and State leave, because one might be more stringent towards the employer than the other.

At the time I went thru this on 2 different jobs the Fed Wage and Hour Dept. had it listed that unless you supervise or administer work to 3 or more people, you qualify for overtime. Yes... handling fees include, travel, packaging, supplies, labor, and in this case, storage while you wait for them to show up. BE FAIR though. Handling fees should not be excessive. You did not say what the item was or how much it auctioned for, but be very reasonable with your handling fee. Also, did you or your ad indicate that if it were to be picked up that there will still be a handling fee involved? If you did not state that, you may not be able to charge them... be sure they know the EXACT price they will need to pay (and ask for CASH only) when they come to pick it up. Do NOT accept a check, money order, cashiers check... only CASH, otherwise it is possible that you will be out the product AND money AND you will have insufficient fees charged against you!

first you need to determine what exactly is costing you high electric bills. Is it that there are outdoor lights or cameras or maybe even someone tapping into your electric box. You need to keep the light off in the bathroom until someone is in there. You need to get fans instead of using the ac, perhaps even better insulation around the windows and insulated draperies. Now about machines running...when done with a project one must pull the plug out of the outlet as electricity still flows when the machine is off. I m sure you don t want to invest in different equipment but maybe there would be equipment out there that somehow saves on electricity (like there are washers and dryers and refrigerators that are electricity savers). You could also eliminate a few pieces of equipment that you plug in often and maybe make do with just a few pieces of equipment. Maybe you could use sunlight more from the windows instead of a lot of lighting. Maybe the lighting you have could be directed directly onto what you re working on instead of all the lights across the ceiling being on. Maybe you could have sections of your workshop on separate electric lines so that only sections of the shop can be lit and not the entire workshop all at once. Figure out what is most wasting your electricity and work on that. ....then perhaps somewhere else you are spending could be cut so that you can have ample electricity. Where else could you cut? Can you reduce the phone bill, supplies, gas and transportation, can you somehow get more back from your taxes, how about delivery charges, and charge card interest or interest on other types of loans. Can you increase the cost of your product by a few cents or a few dollars and still sell what you make? How about a cut in the salaries so you can keep them working? Or what additional job could they take on or your shop take on to bring in more money? Is there anything you can sell that you don t need anymore?

It might cost you $125-$250 to have them write up a letter (and they likely have one pre-writeen) that can be provided as an adendum to the lease. I have an idea on how to make a fantastic improvement on a product that already exists.Now the problem is i can explain the idea but not being technologically minded i dont actually know how to go about putting it into practice.Im scared to tell anyone lest they steal my idea, or approach the company directly without them stealing it.Can i patent it without it working, only being an idea in my head. WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?please help me, this idea could change everyones lives :)

You can patent an idea with out a working model, but you must be able to describe how it works, so that someone reading your patent, could actually create your device or service, with out having to innovate new science or processes.For example, if you had an idea for rocket boots, you could not patent it unless you could clearly describe how it would work, so that anyone reading the patent could create it with out having to innovate new science or processes. However, if your idea is a new type of social networking website, and you know how it should work, but not how to program, then you can certainly patent it with enough detail, and then have developers work on it once your granted the patent.

Say for example you thought up an idea to add a projector to mobile phones (i did but it had already been done) you could get a patent using nothing more than a simple drawing of it working and a written description of what it is . If someone who can make it work likes the idea and wants to produce it they will have to pay you as you invented the idea despite your not knowing how to make it work .

you could ask around and see if some of your friends/people at school want to buy the ipod or CD s. I don t know about the clarinet though, would a store that sold that type of stuff buy it? I would suggest a yard sale, but it doesn t seem like enough stuff, and its starting to get to a bad time of the year for something like that.

craigslist is for any age, but be aware of scammers and only deal locally. don t agree to checks, take cash only - i mean it. you ll have to meet up with the person. i sold stuff that way. it s free too and easy.

I am working on realising my lifetime ambition to run a small guest house in the West Country. I currently work as a self employed business consultant for the licensed economy so could be based from anywhere in the UK to continue this. I have 2 houses with mortgages (equity of about ��80k) so although not a good time to sell, it is a good time to buy, being able to take advantage of lower prices and also to make sure that completion takes place before the start of the 2010 season. They should be able to advise you on a business mortgage. We looked into this a few years ago when we were considering increasing our property portfolio.The other people to sound out about this are your local Business Link. They have a wealth of information on sources of finance other than the obvious choices.You may be able to use the equity from your properties as a deposit but that would mean remortgaging them as well.Make sure that you will have enough hours in the day to run your B B as well as your consultancy. From 0700 to 1200/1300, depending on the size of your guest house, you ll be tied up on the premises.
