I just opened a day care in my home and am having a hard time getting customers.? -

I have a web-site. have advertising in newspapers and tried to put up flyers which no one will allow and are rude about it. does anyone have suggestions please.

if you are lazy, you aren t going to help yourself very much, the answer is the same as it was a couple of days ago. get dressed, put on some make-up look neat, smart, clean and well rested and go to all the commercial and industrial companies within a couple of miles of your business location and ask to put your card up in the employee lounge. You need to go door to door in the evenings when parents get home from work and knock on their door to tell them you are right around the corner and they can save gas by dropping off and picking up with you. You need to go to and join clubs, associations and service groups and pass more than the word around. Put cards on windshields of vehicles you can see a child s safety seat in. Every place where a mom can work is where you need to introduce your self and you should be able to go to 30 places in the two hours around lunch.

Have you tried putting the flyers up in supermarkets that have bulletin boards. I know some major ones such as Jewel/Osco have them. Or if you have any kids in school maybe talking to the school to see if your flyers can be distributed in every classroom. Usually word of mouth is your best option. Church bulletins or flyers are good too. I hope this might help you.. Good Luck!!

I would not put up flyers,it makes you look cheesy.Remember people have to trust you with their kids.Believe it or not, there is a ton of people that still use the yellow pages, getting your name in there cost some money, but it pays off.Once you get established ( if you are good at what you do) word of mouth will take over,GL

some libraries and grocery stores have bulletin boards you can put small ads on - there just might not be that many people looking for child care right now - they either already have it or they are out of work and staying home with the kids

You can make up business cards and hand them out. Put flyers on telephone poles.

Ebay sellersquot; Why is eBay making us sign in twice in a row each time before we can check our sales? -

I presume everyone else is having to do this, too. I m finding it very frustrating because it already takes several minutes from the time I click on the eBay icon until the time I am prompted to sign in (I have dial up)--but having to do it twice in a row adds still more time to the process and I don t understand the purpose of them having us do it.

EBay checks whether you are logging in from the same computer as before as a security measure. I once had to call the to get things worked out when I got a new PC. Possibly, their system isn t reading your computer properly. You might want to get in touch with them about it. I had to have them set up an automatic call to my phone to verify me.

How do I sell an invention? -

I came up with a very simple devise that would (could) have stopped many airplanes from crashing. Could be made in any garage, basement or kitchen for that matter, just with stuff laying around the house.

The first thing you should do is document your idea (ie. write it down). Not just a sentence or two. You should write something called a patent disclosure. It doesnt need to be a novel, but take some time to think through some of the details, including how your device is made. And even if you cant draw more than stick figures, make a few sketches. Ideally, this is done in a bound notebook with pre-number pages which are available in any office supply or stationary store. The written description should enable someone with expertise in the field, to make and use your product. Every time you work on your device, note it in your notebook, with dates. Update your notebook with new entries relating to any new developments, analyses, tests, results and descriptions of prototypes. Have at least one independent party witness your notebook entries with their signature and date. When you are ready to file a patent application, hiring a patent attorney is probably your best bet. But, if you don t have the money, you may want to file a provisional patent application with the U.S. Patent Trademark Office (www.uspto.gov). The provisional application fee is only around $100. The provisional application will give you 1 year before you need to file a full application. So, it doesn t replace the application, just delays the expense of a full application. If you can afford it, it would be best to use a patent attorney. You can do it yourself but it is important that you prepare the application in the proper way and with good attention to detail. There are many books on the process. One good one; Patent it yourself by Pressman. Before you spend the considerable cost (typically 5 to 10 thousand $) for a patent application by an attorney, you should search to see what other patents already exist. You can do some searching yourself for free at the USPTO search site: http://patft.uspto.gov/If you find searching difficult or confusing, you can pay a patent attorney or agent to conduct a search, but that may cost several hundred to a few thousand depending on the area of your invention.Showing your invention to a knowledgeable party is also a good idea but make sure they sign a nondisclosure agreement first. An attorney can prepare one for you if you don t have access to one.

how does it work?
