How do I find out the state laws/regulations for my business? -

I own a modeling agency, we only work with models in the state of Tennessee. I have a business license. I would like to find out if there are any state laws/rules/regulations concerning my business. I need to know if i m only allowed to charge a certain percentage for commission, etc. If you can find the site that explains this information or if you already know, i really need to find out so I can revise my contracts!

Just in case you can t find a good lawter, you can always go to the library and I would bet the reference desk librarian would know what book you will need to read.

go to get advice from lawter, they will help u...

How do I prove to Paypal that I received an empty box? -

I bought an item on ebay from a seller with 0 feedback and received an empty box!! So how exactly do I prove that to them?I have excellent feedback btw. =]

If it was sealed at the drop off site, the postage would be recorded for the weight, which means it was stolen while in the shipping system.I lost two packages that way through the US Postal System and one through UPS. You need to make a theft report to whichever service was used. Also send the pertinent info to Paypal.

Does the package show the postage? If you ordered a laptop and got air, the weight won t be right.

Is it illegal for an owner to participate in tips? -

A friend of mine owns a small coffee store. She works right along side with an employee. Sometimes she will only take a small proportion of the tips. There are never any complaints with whatever staff person happens to be working with her for that day. At the end of the day both share with whatever tips there are. The employee usually figures it out. Someone said that was illegal for an employer to share in the tips. We are talking $10-20 each.. Any experience with this? .

http://articles.latimes.com/2009/jun/03/The notion that it is wrong comes from the Starbucks Class Action Lawsuit. The Baristas had to share their tips with their shift supervisors... and this lawsuit has been going on for years.Just recently it has been reversed again. To be very honest.... an owner should have the moral obligation to either stay out of the tip jar or give their employees a living wage that doesn t require them to depend on tips as an income. If that employee makes minimum wage or little above.... the tips are hers. Because frankly dear.... the owner makes enough on the profits.

No. It is illegal to pay less than the state minimum wage. Many employees and employers believe it to be unfair for the owner of the business, who receives all the profits of the business, to also share in tips. It can be a disincentive for employees who have to share their tips with the owners.

I don t know about the legality of the owner taking a portion of tips meant for employees; I do however think it is unethical. How can an employee respect an employer who gives the impressin of being either needy or greedy enough to take tips?.

dude tips r 4 the buisness and u r an intrigal part of the buisness. it isnt illegal. who is the moron who told u that?

it s not illegal but it is a moral thing she should not take any tips from her employees

How old do you have to be to start a business? -

I am 14 and my some of my friends and I want to start a clothing line and sell clothes off the internet. I want to know the legal factors and if I need a business license to sell things off the internet. Also any websites I can go to that have good advice.

u are really too young for business. but i appreciate ur interest in business. u must not do any thing as ur friends doing so i must also have to compete them. just do for urself and ur success. u are too young so u have to learn more so u have visit more webs and have to discuss with ur friend and senoir persons.http://www.ebusiness-centre.com/

You are not too young. I was 14 when I started my business.. but I didn t do what you want to do. I made a vacation website.Click on the link below. (It is the link to a page on my website. Once you re there, scroll to the bottom of the page where it says Make Your Knowledge Sell and click on that button. It will take you to a page where you can learn everything you want to know about program)http://www.magical-hawaii.com/Help-me-goThis program has an e commerce option... so you can sell stuff.. but there are so many other ways to make money with this program too. I know a person who used this program and is now making almost $1000 a month, just from google adds on their homepage! It is safe to say that if you start now, and you really work on it, this could be your main source of income when you are an adult. The instructions are very thorough and take you through all the steps. You really don t have to know a thing about computers to be sucessful with this program - it explains everything you need to know. You will need your parents to help you a little bit, to get it started. Technically, you are suppose to be 18.. so what I did, and what many other people have done, was have it in our parents names until we turned 18. (with their permission of course. Show your parents the link, and the information about this website program. Get them excited! - and I really do think it will get them excited because there are so many success stories. It is very obviously not a get rich quick scam, but rather a build a successful and longlasting business plan )If you have your heart set on selling clothes, than just sell off of ebay. (but you have to be 18 to do that too.) With just about any busness kind of thing you try to do, you will have the same probelem.. your age.I know I didn t exactly answer your question, but I wanted to tell you about this because I was once in your shoes. Haha, In fact I probably once came up with that same brilliant idea of selling clothes online! But I ve found that what I am doing now is much better. Trust me, making a website this way will be MUCH easier than trying to sell clothes online. It gets hard, dealing with orders and live customers - especially when your a teen and have school and other things to worry about. But if you make a website this way, (as long as you work on it) you are guarenteed to succeed and make money. After all, think of how many places there are online already to buy clothes. You have a lot of competetion to beat out before you can hope to make any profit. PLUS - unless you do ebay, you will probably have to pay to advertise for your business just so you have people coming and looking at your clothes. If you decide to make a website like I did, you can make a site about whatever you want. And instead of working with your friends and then dividing the profits, you can all have your own sites about something you each enjoy, and support each other and motivate each other. You will all earn a lot more that way... and you may find it to be a bit addicting. I really enjoy working on my site - and it definitley beats going to a regular job, saying paper or plastic. Anyway, I highly recommend you look into this. Goodluck with whatever you decide to do!
