What intails being self employed? -

My partner wants to become self employed. He has not done this before and is unsure of the procedures in intails, ie bookkeeping, what he has to do in terms of expenses, invoices etc. Can anyone give us an idea pls

I m not self employed but a friend of mine is. In her work, the main issues are self assessment for tax and insurance. She is a riding instructor. I would imagine that a lot depends on what work your partner will be doing, but tax and insurance should be high up on his list.

he will need to contact the inland revenue for a unique tax reference. you will need to set up a D/D for national insurance (self employed status - its about 11.00 per month) you do pay other NI in january, but you have to pay this one in advance keep all sales receipts or copies of sales invoices (duplicate books are good)keep all purchases invoices - even household shopping receipts, if the job is outdoors you can claim cleaning products like washing powder and fuel receipt s are good. try and keep the money from self employment separate from other bank accounts so you know what you have earned. (you can still spend it but it makes it clearer for your accountant) a savings account is good to pay money into, so you re ready for your tax payment in januaryget a good accountant - they can save you a fortune in tax. book-keeping is pretty straight forward. you can buy cash books and ledgers from good stationery shops. If you have children still at school you are still eligible to working tax credits. Good luck in the new business.

The first thing he has to do is write out a Business PlanIf he remains a sole trader then he can do his accounts himselfExpenses are anything he needs to buy that he uses for his business egstock, insurance, vehicle, petrol, paperwork, advertising, specialist clothing etc etcI can t tell you anymore unless I had an idea of what sort of business it was, how many people are working in it, and whether or not he has premises or staff.

If you are new to this then you really have to have an Accountant, at least for the first year or two. His fee will be less than the amount he actually saves you, so it is cost effective. If you don t have an Accountant you will miss out on allowances etc. The paperwork side of thinks is quite simple once you get into it - again, your Accountant will show you the easiest way to lay out your books. Just make sure that you have a systemin place to record receipts etc as they come in. Every piece of paperwork that you lose is money down the drain. If you intend employing anyone then your Accountant will explain all about tax, NI, SSP etc.

Finding name for my business help? -

I m trying to come up with a business name for my jewelry, adn I was wondering how can I find out if the name has been taken... google it? is there a better way to do this to ensure I choose the right name for my business? thankyou,

yes there are websites where you can check for names in use or not, they cost so lets just call your jewelry store The Gem Show because in Tucson is the Gem Show but it s not copyrighted name it s just what people call the multi week event all along the road going into town. Thing is if you used that name, think of the traffic it would give you?

I don t know why so many think google is better than yahoo, it s not. Google is selling google and yahoo puts out there what is looked at most, first. And they do it without taking anything in return. Report Abuse

Are there actually any work from home ideas that arent scams? -

You can only obtain legitimate work from home positions from brick and mortar companies. You want to send your resume out to companies hiring for positions you are qualified for, but include in your resume that you have a home office and you wish to work remotely. Include how you have your home office set up and what equipment you already have in order for you to perform your job. These jobs are just going to advertised as jobs, they would not promote them as work at home because they would hear from too many unqualified people.

They are out there and they are hard to get. Most work I know of is already taken, but here s a few. Answering services for business people and professionals. data entry and billing for doctors and the like. Sorry I could not help you More, except if you know a doctor personally who has a small office and a busy practice. Scour yard-sales and markets for cheap, quality stuff and ebay them. If you are somewhat higher educated you can broker some materials but this is neither easy nor is it guaranteed. Most ALL of it is 1099 work and not employed status

If you know right work at home information you can make money. I use the method here this site and I . create very good income every months. It is very fast to make money. You can get my method that making me money here link below.

Well, there are some, but finding them on the internet is really tricky. There are, however, a lot of small businesses who need to hire people who CAN work out of home. If you can hook up with someone like that, you d be okay. (Maybe through ads in your community paper, etc. etc.)If you see any work-from-home ideas that ask you to pay something upfront, avoid them like the plague. And be sure to Google anything you find with the word complaints after it to see if anything comes up. Also check out http://www.ripoffreport.com/.Good luck. Just be careful out there.

yes, but i dont know much about it. i work with a guy who, part time, does coding for the remote controls that control everything in your house. he makes 500+ a week doing it.

Yes believe it or not there actually are I would give you the link to some but I really dont want to be banned from this site because yahoo acts very funny about that stuff.

Medical billing but you need qualifications for it

No. Sorry.

Yeah become a trader in the stock market, that s not a scam and you can do it at home ....

I m with Jazz, send me and email and we ll talk.

Figuring out Average ending inventory and cost of goods sold! PLEASE HELP!? -

Eddings Company had a beginning inventory of 400 units of Product XNA at a cost of $8.00 per unit. During the year, purchases were: Feb. 20600 units @ $9 Aug. 12300 units @ $11 May 5500 units @ $10 Dec. 8200 units @ $12

They are buying the inventory. Average the prices based on the number delivered each time. 400 x $8 = $3200. 600 x $9= $5400 and so on. Then add the amounts together and divide by the total number of units.

GAAP and capitalization of expenses? -

Is it a violation of GAAP to capitalize routine expenses and if it is would it be considered fraud? Also, if a company has maintenance expenses and they postpone those to avoid expenses in the current period does that have anything to do with GAAP?Thanks

Capitalisation of costs depends on whether the costs is:1.Repairs,2.improvements and replacements,3.rearrangements and reinstallations, or4.additions.For accounting treatment of each of the above see the article attached.http://www.summaryworld.com/when-do-you-
