Sellers permit to sell purses on ebay? -

I m planning on making purses and selling them on ebay for around 5 dollars a piece. Do I need a seller s permit if I plan on doing it continuously? If it helps, I live in the state of California.

Not if you do it right. You can have a garage sale every week but you do not have to become a business. There is a point where you have to declare it on your taxes (check with your state) but it is just crafts for additional income (if done right).

You will need a sellers permit if you plan to pay state sales tax! If you were to sell your homemade items at a venue - such as a Art Craft Show they would require you to present your Sellers Permit before they would rent you a space. If you wanted to rent a space at a swap meet there would be no such requirement. Ebay doesn t care if you sell without a permit. The only benefit to you in having a sellers permit is that it allows you to purchase your materials at wholesale discount. If you manage to sell a $1,000 worth of your products your sales tax bill will be $75.50 - Sell them first then worry about a sellers permit .

Disclaimer - I am not a lawyer. The laws concerning selling items online as a business are changing, so you really need to talk to an attorney. That being said: you will likely need a business license and a sales and use tax permit. You ll be required to collect sales tax on the items you ship to buyers in California.

no as long as you sell them on ebay you do not need a permit.. ebay is a private company that charges a fee. they set the rules and they own the sale. you make your prfit and they make theirs.permits are just another way for the state to say heyyy pay me motha f****** .. ebay says the same thing just in a small seller fee kinda way ..
