Like I said the library has all you need to know, not only to help make an educated decision but a decision worth going back to school and learning for. (rule of thumb) if it s easy,,,,, it s not worth much.
Starting a business is definitely a good idea. You need to decide what you want to do. A wedding / even planner is an extremely competitive industry. There s hundreds or thousands of these businesses all over the place. Not to say it isn t possible, but generally it s a good idea to have some strategic position or specialized experience to get a foothold. Also, business like this is often marketed via word-of-mouth, so it can take a while to build up a solid customer base.As for charging, you need to investigate what the market expects, the quality of service you can provide, and whatever factors will affect your cost.
As already stated, this is a pretty competitive industry these days. That said, the wedding industry seems to keep chugging along regardless of the economy. I d take a look at the events services section of your local Craigslist to see what the competition is doing in your area. Take a look at their websites, and call them to see about prices. I ve also seen a LOT of books and mini-courses out there about this so it definitely is a pretty popular home business. There are even a number of books on Amazon.Hope that helps, Christina.
