You can start this one immediately, and there s no up-front expense, and no minimum order:There s a company called DoodlyCouch that offers workbooks and journals for all sorts of people - they have one specifically for kids, as well. These are drawing journals - so you draw out the answer to How do you feel today? instead of writing it. They sell the books on Amazon and on their website (www.DoodlyCouch.com), but they also have a fundraising program and they let you make money by selling their books, with no money up front and no minimum order. You could combine this with something fun like an art contest and prizes maybe?
Make up some flyers and post them up today, to inform the public your looking for donations, and include what you need to accomplish with the money and a phone number. Go around to local businesses and ask for donations. And try next weekend to hold a yardsale at a members house. You can get all the members and their families, and possibly even just people who live in the community to donate their old things. Post up some more flyers, promote it on craigslist, and I bet a ton of people will show up!I always go to charity yard sales, there s always a huge variety from multiple families, plus I know my money is going to a good cause.
Skill auction....people bid for the use of other peoples skills....so your Dad is a hairdresser...they bid for a haircut...also get donations from local business to auction off.
