If you get paid fortnightly and everyone goes on holiday from your place of work over the Christmas New Year break as part of the employing company s policy you will not get any extra pay.You get your holiday pay when you get your four or six weeks annual leave. With most employers it is four weeks annual leave. You should have clarified this with your employer when you started at your place of employment. This is a lump sum of four weeks pay. You will have to work a year from the time you started employment at your place of work to qualify for holiday pay.You do not get holiday pay because it is Christmas, Easter or some other public holiday. Under the present system you are supposed to negotiate as to whether you get time and a half or double time if you work on public holidays like Boxing Day. This is particularly the case in the Hospitality Industry where there are employees on the go all the time to cater to tourists. I hope that this helps clear the air and explain that Holiday Pay is for your Annual Holidays. Cheers!!!

You need to ask this of your payroll department. Companies handle these kinds of situations differently, there s no way of knowing on this end.
