I am not in the HVAC business, but I do own a small business. I can tell you from personal experience that I wish I taken an accounting course before I started my business. It would have made a huge difference in the early years understanding why I never seemed to have the money I thought I should have. No matter what, as a business owner, you need to control the money. Never give that responsibility to anyone else. Even Oprah personally signs all of the checks for her mutli-billion dollar empire. Not a dollar is spent she is not aware of. I would also suggest taking a few business management courses so you know how a business should be run. Before you go into the Air Force, check with your Secretary of State to find out what licensing and experience is required for a new HVAC contractor. Use that information to tailor your courses toward your goal of being a business owner. Good Luck, and Thank You for serving the country.
