Where can I find a list of government contracts for small bussinesss in my area for free? -

I live in Alabama and I am looking for a government listing of contracts (small bussiness). I am looking to start up my own personal bussiness and need to know whats out there. State contracts would be appreciated too... Thank You

In order to provide Federal contracts, you have to register your business with the CCR and be approved. Then you can look on their website to find contracts. In the state of Alabama, you send an application to the state and they contact you when they have an available job that fits your business.

Your county government s office will have the information. It will depend though how well the web site or web presence of your county isIn Fairfax VA for example, their website lists government contracts available http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpsm/solic.Also, your Secretary of State or governor s websites will have links to contracts available to small businesses in your areaOr contact the SBA office in your state to point you in the right direction http://www.sba.gov/localresources/index.Be clear though with the certification processes -- are you a woman owned business or a minority owned business -- and all the requirements and processes for bidding on government contracts

The information is hard to find for my company. I advise using a service like Bidprime or Govbids to get emails when there are new bids in your area.
