Can I use money from venture capitalists for spending? -

What I mean, is outside of the business. Like say Yahoo or Facebook invested $40 million into my business, how much does I see? Do I get to use any of it? I ve been confused with this about a while. No, I don t want to be invested just to get money, it s a serious question. I mean, how long did Kevin Rose have to work a 9-to-5 job before he saw some income? PS Why do Start Up companies cost millions to start up? I mean, even if you take away advertising it still seems like its costs a lot. Servers are not too much. You can get interns to do most of the work. Where is teh monies going 2!:P
