Can you really be successful selling Mary-Kay? -

If anyone has done it before or has some advice?

Mary Kay is a Multi-level marketing companies (MLMs). Statistics show that 99% of women lose money in all MLMs. I used to sell Mary Kay myself and I regret the decision.1. A Mary Kay Lady will tell you that you only need $100 for a starter kit. This is true, however in the days following signing your agreement you will be strongly encouraged, manipulated, guilt tripped in any way possible to buy a large inventory package. This is where women get themselves in trouble, and wind up putting thousands on a credit card. You don t have to buy the inventory but the shipping cost for lots of small shipment will severely cut into your profit. Beware--recruiters will do whatever it takes to get you to buy that package. They make a commission!2. It takes a lot of time to make any money. Don t expect to get rich. It sounds great because you make 50% of whatever you sell right? Say you sold a $100 order to a customer at a home party. You would get $50. That means in order to make $20,000 a year you would have to find 400 people to buy $100 of product. From personal experience this is very difficult. Most people aren t willing to buy $100, and you begin to run out of people to sell to. The way Mary Kay would recommend getting over this is talking to strangers in grocery stores, malls, and anywhere you go. The market is saturated with people desperately trying to sell these products. Besides...20,000 is hardly enough to quit your job over.3. Since Mary Kay does its business through parties. You would have to go to hundreds of woman s home in a year! Mary Kay promises you will get to spend more time with your family and spend time at home. This does not happen because you will be at people s homes, Mary Kay meetings every week, or prowling the mall looking for people to sell to/recruit.4. You only can make a good amount of money by convincing others to sell Mary Kay too. Actually you can only make money if they buy inventory so you can make commission. This means you have to convince all your friends, family and coworkers to sign up and put thousands on their credit cards for inventory they probably won t sell very much of.I m sure a lot of people will disagree with what I ve just said. Some pf them will claim their life is fantastic because of the Mary Kay way. But if you need more proof go to http://www.pinktruth.com/ There you will find lots of women burned by the Mary Kay industry. These women include professionals, and people who worked hard at selling but still got the short end of the stick. If you are considering signing up think hard about it. There are only a small percentage of people in Mary Kay that make a lot of money. Almost everyone will tell you that they are making a ton. This is usually not true. Mary Kay ladies are famous for the phrase Fake it till you make it. Best of Luck

Almost 99% of all new reps lose money in their career. They always blame themselves. They think that they could have succeeded if they had just worked a little harder . It is a tough job. You are not only competing against local department and drug stores. There are also 100,000 other reps who are already selling.Most businesses want more buyers for their products. MK wants more sellers. That is not a business model that is meant to make you succeed. It does make the company succeed because new reps always buy lots of products. They wanted a job but they became a customer.

Yes you can be successful selling Mary Kay, but it is not easy. I consider myself successful; however, I am not rich. I lost my job 7 months ago, after having been with the company for 5 years. I started my Mary Kay career 3 months and a stack of We re sorry but... letters. Luckily, my husband has a decent paying job but the loss of income was devastating. I have made enough in sales each month to offset his income and keep our bills caught up. I truly believe that if i put in more than 10 hours per week (including phone calls and office work) I could make much more. Right now though, I am enjoying being an active part of my children s educations, and a room mother. There are women in my unit that make more than 3k profit each month, and my director makes 6 figures per year. There are more failed stories of Mary Kay than there are success stories. I recommend, if you are interested in becoming a consultant, going to www.MaryKay.com and inputting your zip code to find a local consultant. Go with her to a meeting and meet some of the women who are actually working their business. Don t base your decision on those that were not able to make it work. It is not the right choice for everyone. Get information from websites and people that decided it wasn t for them, and information from those who it is working for, and make the choice that is right for you.Good luck what ever you decide to do. =)btw, I didn t order a large inventory to start with. That is another personal decision, but it was strongly recommended to me. I built my inventory by taking less profit and ordering one or two extra products each time. It is slow going, but it is working...for me.

Yes, you can look for evidence and find it to support either theory it all depends on you if you love and use the products you can do well. Mary Kay Ash took he life saving to star this Company 46 years ago even though she was told she would not succeed she made the decision she would. what is your decision lay out the pros and cons make a factual decision not emotion or based on someone Else s stories and always follow your heart desire is the key
