Are you asking if you could rent land from somebody and make money on it? Not likely, unless you want to set up a Christmas tree lot for a month or two. Now it is too late to even start such a business for this Christmas. If you are looking to be a landlord, you had better develop the land first. Only one acre is not much use to anybody, unless you can build a house or two on it. Even most shopping centers need at least 2 or 3 acres to develop and put in parking. You might be able to build a parking garage and make a profit, but the land would need to be in an urban center where there is little street parking. It really depends on where the land is. In urban areas, an undeveloped acre of land will bring big money $8000 to 20,000 in most places, closer to $40,000 in New York City. That is just a flat purchase price. Farm land can go from $1000 up to $100,000 per acre. The $100,000 per acre farm land is in Louisiana btw. The price varies due to the quality the soil.
