What are the channels to generate finances for an NGO? -

I belong to very weak secton of the society in rural India. I am very astonished at the pathetic ondition of the education system in India. I want to set up an NGO for the upliftment of the education system in India., but do not have sufficient finances to do so. Kindly do tel me how can I arrange finances for the purpose?

If I were in your shoes I d pull together a group of children in a specific area and then go to a school and ask the better teachers to volunteer their time teaching those children for a few hours on the weekends. Take only teachers who are committed to this project so as to not disappoint the children and put a break in their training. Also if you can get some donated pc s and have some internet services then each child could learn from someone anywhere in the world who could give them information. The problem with that though is cultures and ideas may be different than what they would learn in India. Here we are used to volunteering and we have the ethic that if you give out it will come back to you. So some people go in expecting that the world will give something back to them someday. Othere times we realize children will govern the world in later years so we must train them for the best. Maybe if you use those words you might get volunteers. So the only finance would be the transportation to get the people there and the children there at the same time for class. I don t know if you would need a government permit for teachers (who are off the clock and who are volunteering) to teach the children but since it s volunteer work and no money is exchanged maybe the government would look the other way.
