Baking breads and cookies to sell from home? -

I would like to start a little business baking cakes, cookies, breads, etc. from my home. Do you know if it s okay to do this? Is there some info I should know?

you have to list the ingredients on the package and if no preservatives the date they were made. keep all your recipes, include gas costs heat costs, all you spend!! for your taxes. file a 1099 i believe. there a lot more, check some websights for small business in your state and the IRS websight as well. PS check with your local unemployment office, they will help out if you want to start your own business!!!

Every idea is great if you wish to make more money.Take in account some of this things before you start:1. who are your competitors and their prices (bakeries for example), set your prices on that or a little lower until people gets to know your product.2. plan your cost on ingredients to determine your profit, sometimes ingredients change their price from one week to another, take that in account when you plan your final price of cookies or cakes.3. have a marketing plan, remember your customers will be the best to recommend your product. Design and print your own business cards, if you sell cakes and cookies then print a nice cake or cookie on them. Make some fliers and give them to your neighbors or people around you. 4. You can get new customers in parties offer your cakes to the people you know that is having a party and do your best to make the best cake you can. People will always ask: Who made this delicious cake?Enjoy, anything that you make with all your heart will succeed.

An easy way to start doing this in many areas is to take the bread/cookies to sell at farmers markets. You may also need a business license and health inspections to operate a food retail business. You should contact the state business licensing agency to get details - depending on your state/city it may be on a website.

It is a wonderful idea! However, we live in a very unusual time in human history in which the government infringes to such an extent. It s an uphill battle trying to figure out how to comply with the government to do what you want to do.

well, you need to offically create a business before you can sell anything for profit, and you need to run it by your city or something to make sure it is okay to sell from your home.

...well... you can t just start selling things... you need a permit/license, and an inspector, and the paperwork, and all that stuff.... or you could just say your having a bakesale for a few years...

It will be a lot of work and you can t really just go out and by some Pilsberry dough to make the cookies, you know what I mean?

You have to have a license to sell food to other people.
