Tell him to take a running jump and if he tries bullying then report him.You are under no obligation whatsoever to give up any part of your wages for a christmas present for anyone.
oooohhh this makes my blood boil! your boss is a creep, if he/she has threatened your job or job prospects don t hesitate to bring him up in front of a tribunal, he/she has no regard for whatever you contribute but more to their promotional prospects out of your own pocket! If you want to be more diplomatic and devious just mention that you have already bought the owners a gift that you found more personal...which is i rightly, that you ve made them richer from your efforts all year.
tell your manager to go to hell, and he/she is nothing but a fu*kincrawling basta*d and its the owners who should be getting the giftsfor the workers or better still give the workers a better wage.your manager is a right tosspot
I d let the owners know what is going on, discreetly of course. But one way or another I would make sure that they found out that the employees are being bullied into paying for something that they can ill afford.
I wonder if he will mention that the gift is from everyone when he presents it? I would see if anyone else is against it and present a unified front when refusing.
Tell the owners - this is intimidation, and he should be fired for it. You can threaten to bring the matter to court.
