How do we go about legitimizing our business? -

My husband and I are trying to start up a small business between the 2 of us. It s a dj photography business. We need to know if we need to register or whatever we have to do to get our business name legitimized. Can anyone help us out? We live in TX if that helps any. Thanks in advance.
