Most companies will not hire anyone under 18 if the job entails operating a cash register. This is because you are considered a minor until your 18th birthday and cannot be prosecuted the same. Also, any contracts signed by a minor are not legally binding if the minor decides he/she wants to change his/her mind (before he/she turns 18).Of course, this isn t law and they can hire a minor if they are willing to take the risk. So the only way you can be sure is to call them and ask.
