Paid $1050 for booth at show, now what? -

I am signed up for Portland Spring Home and Garden Show in feb.I have done a smaller show and had okay success (paid for the show basically) but this is a big show and I would like some ideas to make my booth stand out. I make and sell greenhouses (stevesgreenhouses.com) and have a 10 x10 display house (completly assembled) that I use on a 10 x10 space so everything has to be inside of the greenhouse. I put up lots construction pictures and pics of my customers greenhouses. I have a few blooming Orchids for show only and have an area for business cards, flyers, and candy on a bench. (benches run full length both sides of house) I also cover the floor with black ground cloth.I m looking for suggestions for things that will make my display stand out to people walking by. My customers age groups are from 20 to 80 and most are hands on type of people that will assemble these kits themselves, so I would also like to do some sort of theme directed at them Retro? Down Home? Country? Farmers Market ?Thanks for you time reading this, any suggestion appreciated. Sometimes a fresh prospective can shed new light. Thanks again Steve

Movement, color, door prizes are attention getters. Do you plan any door prizes or drawings? Will you be selling small items from your display to help defray the cost or have only the greenhouses for sale?Just brainstorming and don t know if they d apply: Seeds--seed packets are colorful. Kitchen compost or scrap saver. Flower pots. Watering cans. Colorful gardening gloves and hats. Fountain, either tabletop or larger. Windchimes. Birds in a cage. ButterfliesDisplay (for sale or not) of some of your favorite tools. Kid-sized tools, etc. attract kids and grandparents, especially.Could you cut a deal with a nursery to furnish some plants in exchange for advertising? Or with a hardware to let you use tools?Give away a flyer (could be simple, 1-page or less and self printed) about something such as best plants for kids to grow, how to make compost, etc. Or favorite greenhouse plants for beginners. It would have your company info, too.Good luck.

This doesn t exactly answer your question about how to make your booth stand out, but why not have dozens of seedlings in small pots to give away, in exchange for visitors filling out a qualifying questionnaire? These can be used for warm-calling after the show.

The cheapest small business is MLM or network marketing.MLM DOES require that you call on friends and family as your first customers until you REALLY learn how to market. Regardless of the crap you may hear online about attracting clients. You can also build websites. If you want to start a brick and mortar business you need to go to the SBA and join SCORE.All SBA loans require that you put up a minimum of 20% and that you are at the job site or business 90% of the time. Basically, you buy a job for yourself.

Hi jk, My name is Barry and I am a independent business owner. I m part of a MLM. No matter what others might say about MLM s. It comes down to what drives you to reach and achieve your dreams and goals. If you like to have conversations with people and help people then MLM is the way to go. It is a business were every day people like you and I can become very successful if that it what you want in life. If you are serious jk contact me. I would like to talk to you to see if we can become partners in this great business. You can reach me at bahoffman24@yahoo.com

It depends upon what kind of business you are keen to open.

What is the first step to starting my own HVAC company? -

i going into the air force next year for HVAC and when i get out i would like to start my own company so i can make some more money you know. Only problem is while im in there i just don t know what to major in so i go about doing that. So can anybody tell me what would be the best major and degree for me?

I am not in the HVAC business, but I do own a small business. I can tell you from personal experience that I wish I taken an accounting course before I started my business. It would have made a huge difference in the early years understanding why I never seemed to have the money I thought I should have. No matter what, as a business owner, you need to control the money. Never give that responsibility to anyone else. Even Oprah personally signs all of the checks for her mutli-billion dollar empire. Not a dollar is spent she is not aware of. I would also suggest taking a few business management courses so you know how a business should be run. Before you go into the Air Force, check with your Secretary of State to find out what licensing and experience is required for a new HVAC contractor. Use that information to tailor your courses toward your goal of being a business owner. Good Luck, and Thank You for serving the country.

How much should I charge for computer services? -

I already have some pricing set up, but I would like some feedback/suggestions. I do web design (HTML), but mostly PC repairs/upgrades. For example, how much should I charge to add RAM to a computer? Thanks for any advice!

Call up the most well-known computer repair shop in the area and ask them what their price is, and cut it. I m going to go half. I live in a small town, and there isn t a single shop in town. Everyone takes their computers to a Best Buy to get them repaired. The prices are outrageous, and the results completely unsatisfactory.$40 + the cost of the RAM to add it is good, I think. Seriously, it takes like ten minutes. If you re slow.

i would call up three or four local competitors to see what their prices are for the services i want to offer. i would then create a spreadsheet of 3-4 items per competitor and put it all in a matrix. this will give you a fair idea of what the market you re in is willing to pay for your services. go by your gut feeling. sometimes when you talk to customers, you get an idea of how much they are willing to spend. ask customers who are price shopping how much they perceive the value of your service is. that will knock some reality into your pricing and help you correct upward or downward for next time. by the time you re on to your 10th customer, you will have a fairly good idea of pricing. good luck.

Buying and selling tickets on ebay!? -

Hi, i have seen a lot of people doing this on ebay and lots of people who seem to be making money, but with sellers like ticket master and ticket line only giving tickets a few weeks before the event starts how can people do this because it could be risky encase you get the tickets too late and cant get them to the buyer in time, also people may not want to buy off you if you don t actually have the tickets at that moment. Thank you =DAny extra advice would be amazing, thank you again =D

They are not making any money unless they are scalping tickets for high demand events. Most of the tickets being sold are by people who find that they cannot attend after they bought their ticket and are just trying to recover money for tickets they cannot use.

I would never buy tickets on ebay unless the Seller can supply within 45 daysYou only have 45days to claim for INR otherwise it is small claims court

My cost on an item is $10.00 and I put it up for auction on Ebay. What should my selling cost be? -

What should I charge to turn a profit and cover Ebay and PayPal fees? Thanks!

I could suggest $50 but it may not be worth less or more. You might list for 99 cents with a reserve of $50 if you want, then you can accept the highest offer or none of them. What is this item???

in my humble opinion, you should consider the time, transportation, and the snacks you eat it will cost fair enough for about $30.00.lol

You should check out the press release at http://www.bvdepot.com they are giving away free listing fees for auctions so your profit margin will be much better

Figure out how you much you want to make minus the fees and that should be your answer.

to confusing for me i always use craigs list.. you get to keep all your money
