How do I apply for grants for education/non profit. -

I have developed a non-profit for autistic children and am in need of start up capital. I would like to know the best place to apply for grants.

universities.atwebpages.com - it provides some tips about applying to US federal and state grants for college students.

Try going to the websites of organizations/ government agencies that support this cause. More often than not, they have a section there discussing this kind of requests for grants. Here s a simple guide on how you could apply grants online. http://www.slideshare.net/brentallen/how

What i need to open a coffee shop? -

Ok so I have been doing a lot of thinking about what i want to do with my future. I have chosen to open a coffee shop. I have my reasons why, I know i like it, that s all said and done.now the question is what do i need to do before i start my venture? Degree in business? i will serve food so food certifications? what else?

How about you WORK for a coffee shop and LEARN each and every duty within it, and SAVE all your money till the old owner (that taught you so much) decides to sell it on to you, with all its clientele that knows you, you ll know the suppliers etc you just carry on going through the motions then.. it s just a matter of finding a clever bank manager that will lend you 3/4 of it at reasonable and FIXED interests...

A lot of start up cash, the ability to live off savings for the first few years, as you won t make any money. The need to hire trustworthy people, a lawyer, accountant, a surveyor to find the perfect place, the ability to buy products cheaper than the competition, thus start saving now!

Starbucks will just move in next door and eff you. Next idea...

Im thinking of starting a website does anyone have some website name ideas? -

im going to be selling clothing (women and men), shoes, handbags, etc.

how about Online Threads threads, bags and shoes.

How much money would I initially need to open a small fashion retail store? -

??

depends on where you live, the cost of licenses, and the cost of place your going to sell out of, not to mention the initial cost of your merchandise. for example if you rent space in a mall or a street front store will you be required to pay rent, utilities and whatever decorating or fixtures your going to need.if your on the main drag the cost would be higher than if your on a hard to find dead end street.are you making any of the clothes yourself or buying wholesale?use this calculatorhttp://retail.about.com/library/bl_start

Your first stop should be visiting The Small Business Administration (http://www.sba.gov/). This site will be your go-to site for understanding what is needed to start your own business. They provide instructions, guidelines and resources to get your business up and running.I know the thought of opening up a fashion retail store may be in its very early stages, but you may want to check out or bookmark this site, http://www.l-trondirect.com/ once you get it up and running. My friend recently opened up a small retail store in town and he was looking for barcode scanners to track his inventory and purchasing point-of-purchase equipment, like those electronic signature pads you find at many stores near the checkout. This site was a huge help when it came to equipping the store to manage the product sold, capturing payment methods of his customers and whatnot. You may find this site useful in time.Best of luck to you!

Check out Entrepreneurs Small Business Magazine. They have start up business manuals and may have one for fashion retail. The books tell you everything you need to know. Before you buy one, visit the local library because they may have one you can sample.

Tips for starting a neighbourhood snow shovelling service? -

Any tips would be fine.Finance/prices, setting up, advertisement, etc. Any advice is appreciated :)

Start a survey now... Just write up a questionaire that asks the following: We are doing a marketing survey, and would appreciate your opinion in this matter. No name is required, and there is nothing to buy. * approximately how big is your yard?* do you shovel your own snow (or have snow blower and such?)* if so, how much of it do you do? (just door to curb, etc.)* how much would you pay for such a service when it snows?* if such a service is retained, power tools or manual shoveling?* any other opinions you have on this, please write in below. Then knock on each door and see if you can get a live person, or if not, leave the survey taped to the door, with a note that you ll come back for it in 2 days, just leave it taped on the door as well. Once you *have* the market data, you can then calculate costs, like cost of shovels, hiring help, renting / buying power equipment, and so on, and determine if the price people are willing to pay will make you a profit. Advertising can be done almost the same way: door to door tie a brochure to someone s door knob or mailbox. However, keep in mind that it s better to start a real corp to do this, for liability issues, as you do want to buy insurance and stuff like that, in case something happens, you know. :)
