Why would a big business act small? -

I am only looking for a couple reasons why a big business would act small.

Often times a large business creates divisions to be able to address certain issues that are problematic with one big entity. One reason is customer service. If a company has multiple locations but all the commands have to go through the big cheese or one central office. There will be a lot of work at one location creating a backlog. This slows down the activity and also slows down response to customers. Let s say a client wants something done but the business has to get approval from the manager first. The client would have to wait. The manager will have hundreds of approvals to go through and he would not know the full needs of each client. It simplifies marketing strategies. Different divisions of a company act like small businesses and have control of marketing within their area. If you have a national advertisment for one product that is targeted at one type of audience, you will be missing a lot of customers whom are not part of that audience. But if you have a town that has a fair each year, the branch in that town can sponsor the fair and use that as a more affective marketing strategy (direct marketing).Smaller businesses or divisions have less overhead as compared to one huge conglomerate. The division will be able to better manage their products or services with specific action to meet the requirements of that division. Minimal / consice information is sent between divisions and the headquarters simplifying communications, documentation, logistics, legalities and financial processes. There are a few more reasons but generally speaking, small business is the best way to interact with customers / clients while big business is a more efficient way to make money. What can a person do when they purchase an item Ebay and end up with an dishonest seller? -

Purchased an item on ebay, paid 100.00, had it sent to India as gift, took to long to be able to give the normal time of complaint, when it arrived it was not what I purchased and was something sold for half the price. The sellers name is bllenterprise, he would not answer my emails, then began deleting them. No help from Ebay customer service because of the time between the purchase and the complaint!!! Any ideas??

If you bought it on paypal just file a dispute saying the item wasn t how it was described and paypal will freeze the money in their account and give it back to you after you ship the item back with a tracking number =]

If you re past the 45 paypal or 60 ebay timeline there s nothing you can do. Maybe a call to your credit card co might help (if paid that way). Otherwise you have no recourse at this point.

If we are a tech start up, do we have to have our financial s in our business plan, if so, what does it have to indicate and for how long? Its all assumptions?Thanks

Yes you do if you are looking for investors or applying for a business loan. Most investors/banks will want to know how long it will take to recoup the investment plus the desired profit, so they want to see what your expected expenses, sales and profit/loss will be. Even though a lot of the information will be estimates you need to provide some basis for the estimates in order to determine if they are reasonable. The estimates should as a minimum go until the investment/loan will be repaid.If you are funding the enterprise yourself financial data is not essential but it is still useful to monitor how you are doing compared to how you thought you would do.

You ll probably end up spending tons of money on shipping - and then you get the added pleasure of waiting for the item to arrive from overseas (which it probably won t). Just buy one off craigslist - of course be sure to check it out for a few minutes before paying cash for it and taking it home. There s not really any Mexican flat-screen TV manufacturers that I know of. Either use craigslist with cash or buy one from a store near you - your chances of being scammed are drastically reduced.

You don t ask for anything when doing a PR job - you make sure that you ALWAYS have a contract! Don t even start a job without a contract, even if these are friends.
