Can i qualify for unemployment if i own a business other than the job that I was laid-off from? -

I was laid off from my company. Now I m filing for unemployment. But I do own a small business other than the company that I worked for. Can I still file unemployment? If I can t, should I dissolve my sole-proprietary business and then file for unemployment?

Eligible check Although specific eligibility requirements vary from state to state, most states have the same basic standards for collecting unemployment benefits. They include:-You must be unemployed or working less than full time -You must meet certain income requirements -You must be ready, willing, and able to work -You must have involuntarily left your job In general, you won t be eligible for benefits if:-You quit your job simply because you didn t like it -You re fired for committing a crime (e.g., stealing) -You ve never worked before For more information, contact your state s local employment office. You can also look in the state government section of your phone book under Unemployment Insurance, Unemployment Compensation, Employment Insurance, or Employment Service. Or, you can try surfing the Internet using these same key terms. How are benefits calculated? Regardless of which state you live in, you ll receive a weekly unemployment benefit based on how long you were employed and your prior wages. The state will calculate your average weekly wage, and you will receive a percentage of that wage based on your state s formula. You can figure out your average weekly wage by adding up 12 months worth of pay stubs and dividing that number by 52. If you were salaried, just divide your annual salary by 52.Length will vary depends on your situation. Usually it last up to 26 weeks..I d recommend you to go ahead and call your local unemployment office, and get a clear answer.

What do you think of my business Idea? -

I am 18 years old going into College for business and want to get my own thing going. I just recently got my puppy and he s made me realize what I really would want to do. I want to open a dog boarding/daycare and eventually incorporate a grooming center. I love animals and I want to open a place that is affordable and people can know their pets are being taken care of. Do you think this will hit or miss? I just need some feed back just so I can make this as big of a success and I can! Thanks!

Dog boarding and daycare is an important thing to many people. Right now, people are cutting back on the money they spend on their pets, but by the time you graduate from your program, perhaps the ecconomy will have picked up, a bit. You need to:Look up all information on the subject.Look up how much money people spend and have spent on their pets and trends in this.Research different facilities similar to what you are thinking of, and find out what makes certain ones successful.Look at each one and see what they offer. What makes each one unique, or better? What different services does each one offer? What are their contracts like? What legal things do you need to consider? How many people would you need to hire and how much pay would this represent?Costs for:Building rentalSuppliesKennelsInsurance costsOtherIf you go around to different facilities, you will find out a lot. Just say you are looking into doing this when you graduate and ask for hints or tips. Since you are not doing this, right away, they may be willing to talk to you. Additionally, if you go to a city that is not right where you would want to do this, they might be willing to talk to you. You could also try working in one of these type of places to see just what goes on, how the clients act, and what they expect. In doing this, you may find out if it is truly for you, or not. (People can be very picky with their pets - just ask any groomer). There are also dog training facilities that are becoming more popular and people always need training for their puppies and dogs.

Yes.I also love business. But you have to look at your pros and cons:-Is there a lot of competitors out there? (yes)---- This meaning that it is hard to start a business when you have so many other people trying to run the same thing.-Are there people willing to give their animal to a new business? (maybe)It does look like you want to deal with dogs, so maybe look and brainstorm for different ideas that you could do with the animals.Something that is unique and that will catch people s attention when looking for their animal s daycare.Hopefully that made sense.

Why is it important for an employee to be honest, dependable and have experience? -

why is it important for an employee to be honest, dependable and have experience?

To run the business the correct way! If your not honest with your customers, and tell them some wrong information they wont ever go back to your business. If you have experience with what you are doing, better chances you will get things done faster. Main thing is to deliver with great confidence.

Experience: Because you don t want to have to spend so much time training an individual. You want to hire someone who have had some experience so that way, once they are hired, with minimal training, they are able to grasp the concept and apply it to what they ve already learn from their past experiences. Dependable: You want someone who is going to be reliable; Be on time and complete their task at hand that is given to them. You don t want someone who is a slacker and can t get the job done becuase that is not what you are paying them to do. Honesty: Honesty is important becuase you want to be able to trust that when the upper management is out of the office, the job is still being completed as if the manager or management has never left the building. Honesty is most important becuase if you lie about having experience and be dependable and that your are able to do something that you can t, it can be costly with the time spent to hire and train the person and if the person is unreliable, you would probably lose out on some possible profits that can be made if the person was on time for work.

A dishonest employee will cost me money in theft and business. If I can t depend on an employee to show up on time every time and do what is expected than that person is of no use to me. If the employee is experienced then I do not have to spend as much time and effort in training.

So what is your question?
