How can i ask for more money at work? -

I m hired as consultant. I ve been using my own laptop at work, instead of using a company computer as promised. All of the work I do is on the computer all day. Can I use this as a position to ask for an increase in hourly pay?(paid as 1099)or as a consultant, would i just say, my rate is going up 10%

If you are a consultant and you are paid on a 1099, you are self-employed.The good news is that it is up to you to determine what you charge for your services. The bad news is that if your company doesn t want to pay what you are charging that they will stop using you as a consultant and look elsewhere.Do a little market research and find out what it would cost them to use someone else. Don t forget that if you are doing a good job, have a history with them and are making them money, most likely they will be willing to pay more. But if there are 1000 other people who can do what you do and are willing to do it for less, tread carefully.Good luck!

If your useing your computer instead of theres as promesedbe careful, they could probably get you for embezlment or somethingin other wordsbackfired!!!
