I own a business and a competitor is contacting my clients to tell them about my divorce.? -

Should I contact my lawyers? I know he s doing it to try to drive away business by placing doubt in my client s minds but I don t know what legal rights I have to stop him. Thanks!

He is disclosing to the public your facts of your private life. That is Defamation. which arises where one person reveals information that is not of public concern in your business , but still the release could offend some people. He is breaking Competition laws/Antitrust laws. Thro defamation he is promoting unfair competition against you. Get a business -mediator to help you settle your issues. If it does not work find an antitrust/competition law Lawyer.

he/she is doing nothing illegal - how does your competitor know any of the details of your divorce?I imagine he will make themselves look a lot worse than he is trying to make you look by talking about your personal life - I wouldn t worry about - divorce is very common, so why would that bother anyone? - just be professional and don t even talk about it - if a client mentions anything (I doubt they would), just say it s a personal matter and will not affect your work. I personally would never deal with a persona who spreads gossip like that - it s very juvenile and unprofessional - ask him if he is going thru a 2nd childhood, acting like an 8 yr old
