The 1st poster is right.. there is another factor involved, are all of your items from the same supplier? If not, than it will definatly be $2.98 per item, as each item would be shipped seperately from a different location. When you order a lot of items from 1 supplier, there will be only 1 shipping fee because they can ship everything together.. this wouldn t be the case with Amazon, as they tailor to many, many different suppliers, including individuals that can sell their used items.
Amazon has an extensive table that shows you what exactly they charge for shipment. The charges vary by the product type. Please go to the website address given below for detailed information on shipping charges. The charges are by ITEM and per SHIPMENT. In other words, they charge a FLAT FEE ( Per Shipment amount) PLUS a per item fee for each ADDITIONAL item.Based on your example, assuming you are ordering jewelry, If you ordered 7 jewelry items @ $2.98 a piece, then your shipping charges would be $9.93 as shown below:Standard Per Shipment charge...................... $3.99$0.99 per each additional item: 6 x $0.99.......... $5.94Total Shipping Charges................................. $9.93
They are going to charge you by the weight of the box so it will probably be 2.98 an item. But seeing how you are getting them all together it may be a discount involved.
If you are buying used items from third party sellers, then you are charged shipping on each item.If you are buying them directly from Amazon, then you pay one shipping charge for all items.
