Opening an Online Store? -

When I was doing my research for the online store, I was looking at vendors/whole sellers and so forth. Then I ve come across a few things. Some people ask for a Tax ID and I don t think I have one to give. So my question to you is, do online stores need a Tax ID? Also, what do I need before I open the online store? Do I need to get my business license? Sellers permit? DBA Trade Name? Fed. Tex ID?

If you are in Canada the Tax ID they want is the number you use for PST, found on your vendors permit. Most wholesalers don t charge PST because registered businesses don t pay it if they are using the item for their business or reselling it. If you want to be a legit online store you should register your business... in the long run, especially if sales are good, it will save you a lot of hassle.Email me if you have more questions...

Your Tax ID is your social security number. Before you start a business online or offline, it is very important to find out what the requirements are for starting a business in your state.Look in your local yellow pages. The small business association has a lot of information to help you as well.Take the time to start your business the right way and you will be glad you did. Businesses that fail to plan, plan to fail. Don t let it happen to you.
