What are the alternatives to shredding papers ? -

I have many documents to get rid of, i need the space, there is too much to shred, will dunking them in bleach work ?

You can make briquettes out of them. In the UK they sell a press for them. I involves soaking in water and adding something, then slopping the mixture in to the press. You can heat your house with the recycled wills/marriage licences/love letters/credit card statements etc.. It ll make you feel warm all over.

If you have a garden you could buy a dustbin size incinerator that doesn t cost too much. The ash can then be spread on the garden, especially where you don t want snails to eat plants.Don t try to burn the paper flat, but get each piece and screw it up. Then it will burn much easier and faster, so it won t take long to get rid off. Of course screwed up and not flat, it will take up more room, so you will not be able to put quite so much in, but you can always add more as it burns down. Have a bucket of water ready, check out the wind direction, and make sure you are not standing where the smoke will drift and most important - make sure non of your neighbours have washing out and you do it during the time allowed we have to do it evenings or weekend.I have had to do this a couple of times, but do try to shred as much as possible.

buy an argus incinerator the square one with big holes in it, as they are very efficient, shred enough paper to fill 4 or 5 carrier bags, (not cross chopped) use this as a base to get a good fire going, put some old wood on and when you have a hot base of burning wood, you can burn the rest of your documents with ease, it works better if there is a wind.

Burning should do it - although you may not be able to have a bonfire in/on your property. And you d have to cover the bin to stop burnt paper from blowing everywhere. You can hire companies who will come out to your house to do a big shredding job (UK).

Hi if you have a metal bucket you could burn them ,remembering to burn only a few at a time and keep some water near by in case of a flare up.
