I think you should try to sell your stuff yourself, rather than go through a pawn shop, where the shop is only looking to buy things that are in demand right now, and they can make a high profit from.There are many sites to post free classfieds, the most popular in major cities being Craigslist . www.craigslist.orgFind your city, or the city closest to you, and post a classified with a very detailed description and possibly a picture of the good. Never give out your home or cell phone number, and if the person comes to pick up your stuff, have someone home with you or meet them at a neutral spot.
Part of your problem is that if you see the stuff as useless junk lying around your house, my guess is that nobody else will want this stuff either.Look through your belongings and find things that are valuable, but maybe not valuable to you right now. Perhaps an old sweater or jacket that you still think is nice, but you no longer wear it. Those items have value because YOU put value in them.Nobody wants to pay for junk, not you, not other folks either. Find the gems and convert them to cash!
