What is a quot;paid-outquot; if you work at a hotel (Front Desk)? -

What exactly is a paid-out if you work at the front desk of a hotel? If you return a cash deposit on a room for a guest is that a paid-out ?OrIs a paid-out something that you charge the guest for?

Physically a paid out is the slip of paper you put in your cash drawer to replace what you ve given back to a guest in the form of a refund or security deposit return. At our hotels we always have the giver and receiver sign off on the paid out slip. That slip is then included in the clerk s drop for the shift, and is dealt with by Management.A paid out is different from petty cash slip in that a petty cash slip is usually for employee/managerial transactions with vendors. There are also adjustment slips, which are used to explain why a clerk made a particular adjustment to someone s folio...but no physical money has changed hands.Hope this helps.
