Would this be a good business idea? -

Recently with the unemployment rate being so high, some of my friends have come to me for advice on what the should wear, how they should do their make-up and hair for an interview. The reason is competition is so high. I have transform 5 friends to perfect business look for the jobs they are going after. One of my friends told me I should start a business of this. Consulting people on the right look for a job interview. Do you think I should or is this a stupid idea? Also would you personally use this service and how much would you be willing to pay for this? Please only serious answers! Thank you.

I think you should try to develop it as a sideline but I don t think this could be someone s main job.

Yes that is a business idea that could fly for you but realize a few things... you won t be the first (or only) in the business as an image consultant. Also, just like in design shows you may like the look you create but your client may not like the drastic changes. Offer more services than just wardrobe for a full transformation station. Partner with hair stylists, resume writers, and other professionals that can get the client from where they are to where they need to be. Finally realize that unemployed people don t always have alot of money to part with for the new image you help them with. Consider learning how to shop sales and thrift shops to help your customers get more for less and keep your fees realistic. Pass business cards around to clothing stores, salons, and other places and get an incentive program going for discounts. You might charge $25 for your consultation and bring in another $25 from commissions when you refer stylists or other professionals and businesses. Get to the library for books on business plan writing so you know what directions you are going, assess your competition, and have a financial plan of action. Remember that your business income and personal income will merge. Keep them seperate by learning about tax records, accounting, business insurance, legal rights, purchasing, and other business topics that you can use help with.

I think it s a fantastic idea! What a great and marketable concept! First impressions are the most important. You can even expand it to include posture, a handshake, eye contact, etc.Maybe even a run thru mock interview! In this market any edge is to the potential employees advantage! The fact is true...when you look good you feel good. And giving off a positive self image and boasting confidence is the difference in two people with the same resume landing the job!You could charge an hourly rate, you could charge a per service rate or you could even prorate your additional fees based on whether the client lands the job or not. You would have to figure out how much you need to make an hour. Your expenses. Will you shop or just accessorize from what the client already has available? That means traveling to someone s home or going to a mall or something. Do you need a babysitter? Etc....You can pair up with a resume coach to increase your client database!Awesome idea! Run with it!
