I have an idea for a simple invention, where do I start and how do I protect myself from idea theft? -

Get in contact with Trevor Bayliss.

The 4 main ways of protecting yourself are trademarks, design rights, patents and copyright. They each apply in different ways and have varying costs associated with them. Copyright, for example, doesn t cost but patents can work out quite expensive by the time you involve a patent lawyer. If you re in the UK, check out the IPO site.Good luck!

first do a poor man s trademark - take a copy of your idea and mail it to yourself. DO NOT OPEN IT! If you have to go to court, the judge will have to open it and it will show the date of first creation.www.uspto.gov
