Ebay question - has your ebay selling gone really quiet? -

i seem to get lots of watchers and then bids - the other day i was selling a dolls house had 21 watchers and only got the one bid - tonight i was selling something else with 6 watchers and ended with no bids this is happening all the time - why do people watch when they have no intention of buying - are people buying on the high street and not on ebay this year? by now the previous years my christmas rush would have begun - i m still waiiting.....whats your experience?

I think you need to realise that there are more than one reason for people to watch an item :-They may be a prospective buyer but there are more than one of the item for sale so they put them all on watch and see how the prices go.They may have a similar item that they want to sell so are getting a feel for the likely price they would get. They may have a similar item and are just interested to know what it is worth.Over the last few days i have had half a dozen mens watches on watch (no pun intended), they were all different but i would be happy with any of them. The first 2 went higher than i wanted to pay, the next went for more than it was worth, i bought the 4th.I dont think there is any switch from ebay buying to high street buying as such, but all retailers are competing hard for sales and there are some very good bargains in the high street. If Argos for the sake of argument is advertising mens electric shavers at 50% off, why would you buy a s/h one on ebay for say 40% of previous new cost when for just a few quid more you can get a new one with warranty from Argos? One thing that i have consistently noted in my 4 years on ebay is how poor many peoples listing are. when you think about it, ebay is a strange place, you bid on an item you have not seen, from a seller you will never meet, and YOU have to send your money away first - then cross your fingers. When i sell, i look at my item and think what would I want to know if i was wanting to buy one of these? What i would want to know is probably what a prospective buyer also wants to know so i make sure my listing is as informative as possible.
