Do i need a contractors license to work in maryland? -

i was wondering if you need a contractors license in maryland i was looking this information up on the internet and it says that general contractors do not need a contractors license in maryland to work but you do for electricty work, pluming, home improvment, and havc work. so does this meen i can build houses without a contractors license if i cant then what could i do??? can you please help asap!!!!
